The Queen & Crescent Hotel, originally named the Queen & Crescent Building, was built in 1913 to house the corporate headquarters of the newly formed Queen & Crescent Railroad.

Aptly named, the Queen & Crescent rail line ran from Cincinnati (the Queen City) to New Orleans (the Crescent City). The building, designed by Frank Gravely, took over eight years to construct and is a fine example of the Renaissance Revival architectural style of the 19th Century.

Upon its opening, the Queen & Crescent Building was not only New Orleans' newest Skyscraper, but at twelve stories, it was also the tallest. After a series of owners and name changes, the Queen & Crescent Building was purchased by a group of New Orleans investors who spent over $12 million converting the historic building into a 196-room European style boutique hotel.
